Tasting Notes

The roar of the nearby Cliord Bay surf carries to O:TU’s six vineyard blocks, all situated in the coastal south-eastern corner of the Awatere Valley on the edge of the famous Marlborough wine growing region of New Zealand.

Here, the winding Otuwhero (Oh-too-fare-oh) river and coastal breezes create a long, cool, growing season; ideal conditions for growing bold Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir grapes which inspire us to craft our distinctive and memorable O:TU wines.

All the grapes for our O:TU Single Vineyard Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015 were harvested from Dysarts block, with only the best components from this block being used in this wine.

All measures were taken to retain the very unique flavours and expression of this very one of a kind location.

As it came o the vineyard, all the fruit was immediately crushed to press and the bright, clear juice was left to cold settle for 48 hours. After cool fermentation for three weeks the wine was racked and kept on light lees for four months until bottling. We bottled this wine early to retain maximum freshness and aroma.

This resulting O:TU Single Vineyard is a full bodied Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc which builds up and ends on a long, fine and appetising mineral finish.

Aromas of floral, ripe apples and passion fruit, mainly from Dysarts block.Flavours of white peach, honey melon, light exotic characteristics, ripe greens, gooseberry, currants and flinty minerals.

This O:TU Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2015 will age gracefully over the next four to six years, with a more colourful expression emerging.
